Overview
Jim Moore and Brenda Brooks first began working together in 1984 as local counsel for James R. Martin, the Bankruptcy Trustee C.H. Butcher Jr. and Shirley Butcher. At that time Tennessee was dealing with the collapse of C & C Bank, United American Bank, Southern Industrial Banking Corporation and other banks and businesses related to Jake Butcher and C.H. Butcher, Jr. Thereafter as part of the law firm of Melnick & Moore they worked as counsel for the Butchers' bankruptcy Trustee. The firm of Moore & Brooks was formed in 1995 and continued as counsel for the Butcher's Trustee until $14.6 million was distributed to creditors and the bankruptcy estate was closed in 1996.
Our law firm has represented clients in many other high profile cases. Including John Weaver and later Howard Hogan as Receivers for Joseph C. Taylor & Associates, Inc. William T. Hendon, Bankruptcy Trustee for the Estate of Douglas L. Heinsohn. First Federal Savings Bank of Rogers Arkansas against Stephen A. Gunn, Sandra W. Gunn, Caltennco-Colorado, Inc., et al. We have also represented well known clients who were being pursued by financial institutions and various government entities, both civilly and criminally.
Moore & Brooks has extensive experience in complex financial litigation and actions involving fraud, fraudulent transfers and off-shore entities, representing both plaintiffs and defendants. We specialize in representing debtors for whom bankruptcy relief is not an adequate option. In cases involving the investigation of alleged financial criminal activity, we have worked closely with the U. S. Attorney's office, the State Attorney General's office, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Internal Revenue Service, and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.
